An artistic immigrant family in Buenos Aires is marred by fierce rivalries, handed down through several generations. This movie was so enthralling! Mr. Coppola was smart to keep so much control because it is obvious he had a story to tell and a vision of exactly how he wanted to tell it. The plot line is very intriguing and at many points along the way there seem to be clues about what is to transpire, but the outcomes always are surprising. While the story is dramatic, there are enough bright and light events to keep it from being too "dark". The acting is excellent as well. The casting could not have been better. And it was a real pleasure to be watching a movie where some events and thoughts are just implied, rather than shown explicitly. Thank you, Mr. Coppola, for an artistic, fascinating and well executed movie. I cannot wait to see your next one. While this is not a movie for children, any adult should thoroughly enjoy this. |
